Abstract

This article discusses online buying and selling transactions in the contemporary era from the perspective of the traditions related to buying and selling in Islam. In the context of technological advancement and social media, online buying and selling transactions are growing and becoming an integral part of people's lives. Although there are no traditions that explicitly mention the practice of online buying and selling, the basic principles in Islamic teachings, such as clarity, mutual willingness, and prohibition of fraud, remain relevant. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature approach to analyse the related traditions and their application in online transactions. The results show that online buying and selling can be categorised as a salam contract, which is permissible in Islam, provided that the conditions are met. The article also emphasises the importance of understanding Islamic ethics and values in online business practices, as well as the need for ijtihad to adapt to the contemporary context so that transactions remain in accordance with the principles of Islamic law.
