Potensi Zakat dalam Meningkatkan Kesejahteraan Ekonomi Masyarakat Kota Bima: Perspektif Ekonomi Islam

Abstract

This study analyzes the role of zakat in improving the economic welfare of the people of Bima City, West Nusa Tenggara, in the context of Islamic economics. Although Indonesia's economic growth has shown progress, the challenge of poverty in Bima City is still high, exceeding the national average. Zakat, as an instrument of wealth redistribution, has great potential to overcome this problem. However, zakat management in Indonesia faces obstacles such as the lack of public understanding of productive zakat and transparency issues. The literature review method is used to compare successful zakat management models in other areas with conditions in Bima City. The results of the study indicate that zakat can function not only as a religious obligation but also as a tool for social and economic empowerment. Zakat programs that focus on empowerment, such as skills training and business capital assistance, are essential to creating sustainable positive impacts. This study provides recommendations for the government and zakat management institutions to improve community welfare.
