Abstract

This study analyzes the relevance of the Maja Labo Dahu philosophy as a local wisdom–based framework for strengthening integrity and anti-corruption education in Early Childhood Education (PAUD). The research is motivated by the limited contextual and culturally grounded pedagogical models for character education at the early childhood level, where value internalization often remains normative and declarative. Employing a qualitative library research design with a normative-conceptual approach, this study examines theories of moral development, character education, and socio-cultural learning perspectives to construct a systematic model of value internalization. The findings indicate that the values of maja (moral shame for wrongdoing) and dahu (awareness of and fear of violating social norms) are conceptually aligned with moral development and social learning theories. Based on this synthesis, the study formulates an integrity internalization model grounded in three interrelated foundations: pedagogical (experiential learning and habituation), psychological-developmental (imitation, reinforcement, and self-regulation), and cultural-contextual (integration of local narratives, symbols, and practices). The study concludes that integrating Maja Labo Dahu into PAUD learning contributes to the formation of early moral awareness, discipline, responsibility, and honesty as preventive foundations for an anti-corruption culture. The proposed model offers both theoretical enrichment and practical guidance for designing contextual and sustainable character education in early childhood settings.
